AC Installation in Tekoa
We put in central air that fits your home, not the biggest box on the truck. We measure, load-calculate and quote in writing first. Book your install in spring and the system is running before the first July heat wave.
When a new AC is the right call
Sometimes a repair is the smart money. Sometimes it isn't. If your unit is old, needs a major part like a compressor, or still runs on R-22 refrigerant, a new system usually costs less over the next ten summers than keeping the old one alive.
We will tell you which side of that line you are on. If a fix makes more sense, we will say so and send you to our AC repair crew instead.
Timing matters too. Summers here are dry and can turn hot fast. Installs scheduled in April or May go in without the rush, and you are not sweating through a week of waiting when everyone else's unit quits at once.
What your installation includes
Load calculation
We figure out how much cooling your home actually needs. Square footage is only part of it. Insulation, windows, sun exposure and ceiling height all count.
Equipment matched to your furnace
The outdoor condenser and indoor coil have to work with your furnace or air handler. We check the blower and make sure the pieces are rated to run together.
Pad, line set and electrical
We set the condenser level on a solid pad, run a new refrigerant line set where needed, and connect a proper disconnect and breaker. Old lines often carry leftover oil and debris, so we usually replace them.
Removal of the old unit
We pull out the old condenser and coil, recover the refrigerant the right way and haul it all off.
Thermostat setup
We wire and program your thermostat, or install a new one if your old one can't run the new system well. Then we show you how to use it.
Startup and testing
We charge the system, check pressures and temperature split, and run it until the numbers are where they should be.
Signs it's time to replace your AC
It's past 15 years old
Most central air units wear out somewhere between 12 and 20 years. Past 15, every big repair is a harder sell.
It uses R-22
R-22 is no longer made. What's left is expensive, so a leak on an older system can cost more to recharge than the unit is worth.
Bills keep climbing
If your summer power bills go up each year with the same habits, the unit is losing efficiency. Newer systems use a lot less power for the same cooling.
Rooms never cool down
Hot upstairs bedrooms or a unit that runs all afternoon and never catches up can mean the system was undersized or is worn out.
Repairs back to back
Two or three service calls in one season is a pattern. We'll show you the repair history math and let you decide.
How install day goes
- 1
Free estimate at your home
We look at your current setup, take measurements and ask how the house feels in summer. Then you get a written quote with the equipment and every line of work spelled out.
- 2
Schedule ahead of the heat
We set a date that works for you. Spring dates are easiest to get and leave time for any permit the job needs.
- 3
Out with the old, in with the new
Most installs take one day. We lay down floor protection, remove the old equipment, then set the new coil and condenser and connect the lines and power.
- 4
Test and walk through
We run the system, check it under load and walk you through the thermostat and filter. Then we clean up and take the old unit with us.
What moves the cost of a new AC
Every home is different, so we don't quote off a chart. The price comes from what your house needs and what's already there. You'll see it all in writing before any work begins, and the estimate is free.
- System size
- A bigger home or one with lots of west-facing glass needs more tonnage. Oversizing wastes money and makes the house clammy, so we size it right.
- Efficiency rating
- Higher SEER2 units cost more up front and less to run. We'll show you where the payback makes sense for how you use your AC.
- Furnace compatibility
- If your furnace is old or its blower can't handle the new coil, that changes the plan. Sometimes pairing the AC with a furnace installation is the better deal.
- Electrical and line set work
- Some homes need a new breaker, disconnect or longer line run. Older panels can add work.
- Permits
- Most installs need a mechanical permit. We pull it and include it in the quote so it isn't a surprise.

How long does an AC installation take?
Most straight swaps take one day. If we're adding electrical work or installing central air for the first time, it can run into a second day. We'll tell you the timeline when we quote.
Should I get a heat pump instead of an AC?
It's worth asking. A heat pump cools like an AC and also heats, which can cut your furnace use in spring and fall. We can quote both side by side, and our Heat Pumps page covers the rebates and tax credits we help with.
My house has no ducts. Can I still get AC?
Yes. Ductless mini-splits mount on the wall and cool room by room. We cover those on our Ductless Mini-Splits page and can quote them on the same visit.
Do I really need to replace my coil too?
Usually, yes. The indoor coil and outdoor unit are built to work as a matched pair. Mixing a new condenser with an old coil hurts efficiency and can shorten the new unit's life.
When is the best time to install a new AC?
Spring. You get your choice of dates, and the system is tested before you need it. Waiting until a heat wave means longer waits and a hot house in the meantime.
